Was unsure what to expect when a mate handed me SPL staring Donnie Yen, after reading the cover to get an understanding of the story I settled in to a cop vs gangster movie. It took a while to get going, maybe because I was concentrating on the subtitles, but the fight scenes were amazing and make this movie. The fight scene in the alley where Donnie Yen duels with baton vs knife was the highlight of the movie with expert martial art action.

I rate this movie for the action, but the plot was not very interesting.
